Merrick History

Herbert Merrick

In 1908, an engineer named Herbert Merrick developed the first dynamic weighing machine based on the idea of mechanically calculating gravimetric flow rates from belt speed and weight. Little did he realize that he would fundamentally change the way the world measured material flow.

Herbert Merrick began the Merrick Scale Manufacturing Company in Passaic, NJ to produce his new invention. The company has been in continuous operation ever since. Although many new products would change the weighing industry over the next hundred years, MERRICK has remained a driving force in the advancement of dynamic weighing and material handling technology with a full line of solutions.
